That is true Joe about turnbow, seems that all the Tigers moves or who they are looking at are lower tier players, and/or players who have struggled with command-location, and/or coming off an injury from 08 season. I have felt after watching the 08 season come apart late in the season, that the Tigers DD and staff would be hard pressed to remedy everything this one off season. So I am looking for a treading water type 09 a few wins above .500, as the young minor league arms gain experience from pitching innings and coaching for a better 2010 team. The infield defense should improve, and I hope Carlos can play adequately and a healthy leftfield. Also for 2010, Sheffield leaves after 09, and they can put Maggs and Carlos at DH most of the time and have corner outfielders with better range and defense in their place in 2010.

I agree with you on that one. We will see where this goes. But to replace Lopez with a Derrick Turnbow type is mind blowing.

He will be 34 soon, but more importantly, maybe the Tigers were looking at the high amount of inherited runners he allowed to score. 51% which was the second worst in the majors for 08. A case can be made for him as you posted, but this is just another head scratching move by the Tigers.
