Holy God, They had the ball… I mean guts to cut Sheff

Nothing is better on a Tuesday afternoon then heading to work for a weekly production meeting, leaving the radio station, heading to get one of your favorite chinese entrees, and finally opening up your laptop to find that (Insert Dramatic music here) Gary Sheffield is no longer a Detroit Tiger.
Sheffield, who is one home run away from the elusive 500 club was surprised and shocked at the move, citing that he hadn’t even thought of it as a possibility. Dave Dombrowski and Jim Leyland dropped the news on the future hall of fame candidate.

Dan Dickerson: “It’s not Even Close”

This afternoon, 97.1 the Ticket’s Karsh and Anderson were joined live in Lakeland, Florida by Tigers play by play announcer Dan Dickerson that the competition for the 5th starter is not even close. Dickerson went on to say that when watching Porcello this spring training, his fastball has been in the mid 90’s, but has a lot of movement and is hard to get in the air.
Dickerson also talked about the real possibility of Ryan Perry making the squad, saying there are two to three open spots in the bullpen, and the Perry is making his mark when he enters [...]

Miner Hit hard; Is Porcello the answer?

This afternoon as the Tigers took on the St. Louis Cardinals, Zach Miner had a real oppurtunity to etch his name onto the true fifth spot contender list. After seven hits, three runs and three innings pitched, The sinker balling righty might have scratched his name on the bullpen wall.

We have a new update in the A-Rod saga. The Yankees star third baseman could miss up to ten weeks with a torn labrum in his hip. The Yankee staff, alongside Alex Rodriguez are taking it slow, stating that there is a 75-80 percent chance that their third baseman could okay through the pain in 2009.
