When the Giants didn't offer him a contract, I got the impression that the Tigers would have signed him if Sheffield hadn't been blocking him at DH. As far as I'm concerned, Bonds is the greatest player I have ever seen. I'm not going to go into all the steroid stuff here, but I would be a huge fan of the move you speak of. You need a LH hitter? There might still be none better than Bonds and he's still available. Do I think it could happen? No, I don't, but it would be nice. Ahh, Music to my ears. He still wants to play and he still can, plus he gets along well with Leyland. He's not a particularly nice person, but its hard to demonize him when it has become abundantly clear how many others were doing the same things. There is no reason for this informal banning. In '07 when last he played his OPS was an ungodly 1.145, the only guy hitting like that today is Pujols. Plus, if he was able to DH regularly he would probably get his 3,000th hit in September.
