Jack Wilson Dealt to Mariners

You can exhale now, Tigers fans.  The seemingly yearly courtship between the Tigers and shortstop Jack Wilson may have officially come to an end today, as the Pirates shipped Wilson off to Seattle for catching prospect Jeff Clement.

MLB Trade Rumors reports the deal is a seven player swap, with Ian Snell joining Wilson in going to the M’s.  The Pirates will receive Clement, along with shortstop Ronny Cedeno, and minor leaguers Aaron Pribanic, Brett Lorin and Nathan Adcock.

Snell is another name that had been of interest to Tigers fans.  Following a demotion to AAA, Snell has been fantastic, but had been battling depression prior to the demotion.  He had asked the Pirates to deal him.

Reports had the Pirates scouting the Tigers AA club for the past week, so another deal may yet happen between these clubs.  INF Freddie Sanchez is still a Pirate, though the Giants and Twins also have interest.  Detroit could also be looking at catcher Robinson Diaz or relievers Matt Capps or John Grabow.
