I certainly understand your wariness about Willis. He hasn’t done anything yet, but three more impressive innings today certainly strengthens his case. Still a long way to go, but Willis and Robertson are both pitching well. Which is a nice change from last spring, when no one wanted to win the job.

So I guess my earlier post concerning Galarraga was something less than prescient!! I still find it almost impossible to believe that they would give the 5th spot to Willis. If they do, I don’t think he’ll keep it for very long.

Yes, they’ll eat the contracts, if necessary. As we both have said before, it’s only money and Ilitch has a shit load of it. They gave Easley $14 million to get out of town, paid Sheffield $13 million(?) last year to play for another team. There’ been other similar instances. Money doesn’t mean much to Ilitch right now, winning does, and if Willis and Robertson are perceived as being counter-productive to that end, they will be thrown out on the collective asses.
