Enrique Gonzalez Outrighted to Toledo

The corresponding roster move in conjunction with Ryan Perry‘s activation from the disabled list was announced this afternoon and as we had speculated, it was Enrique Gonzalez getting the boot. Gonzalez was not designated for assignment however, but simply outrighted off the 40-man roster and assigned to Triple-A Toledo.

Basically what this means is that Gonzalez had been placed on waivers a few days ago (I do so wish these things were made public) and went unclaimed. This nullifies the need for a DFA and Gonzalez could then simply be removed from the roster without being further exposed to the waiver system.

So we got the name right, but the logistics wrong. Either way the result is the same and Perry will be active for the final game of the road trip today. A victory would bring the Tigers home with a winning trip.

Hopefully Enri-K works things out. Saddly, this is becoming a pattern with him. He dominates in AAA and struggles with walks (and hits for that matter) once he gets called up.
It was the right move, hopefully Brad gets the boot next!
