Here at MCB, we’ve thrown together a list of ten Detroit Tigers prospects that we’re going to follow and keep you updated on throughout the year. This isn’t meant to supplant your favorite prospect list, it’s merely meant as a collection of some of the top names that we hear about the most.

Week of April 30-May 6, 2011

The struggles at the plate continue for Detroit’s top position-player prospect, Nick Castellanos. He hit his first professional home run this week, but he’s still hitting under the Mendoza line, his power hasn’t shown up, and he racking up strikeouts at an alarming rate (he’s struck out in 32% of his at-bats). We’re still a long way from giving up on him though. At just 19 years old, he’s young for the Midwest League.

Andy Oliver was originally scheduled to make a start last night (his second of the week), but his start was pushed back to Monday due to soreness in his hand caused by playing with a slingshot.
