Brandon Inge Catches On With The A’s

According to MLB Trade Rumors through Ken Rosenthal, recent ex-Tiger, and potential cause of upset stomachs around the Detroit area, Brandon Inge, has caught on with the Oakland A’s. The A’s, who are having a little bit of difficulty replacing 3B Scott Sizemore so far in the 2012 season, have decided to take a flyer on Brandon Inge.

Inge, who was released earlier this week, goes to the A’s in an effort to resurrect his quickly disintegrating baseball career. In just 20 at-bats this season, Inge has just 2 hits, one of which of course was a home run to win the Tigers a ball game last week. The slow start essentially doomed Inge, who made the transition to 2nd base in the wake of the Prince Fielder signing in the off-season. While Inge did show some aptitude to field the position, it was the bat that did him in.

This spring, Tigers manager Jim Leyland had stated that Inge was going to have to hit to remain with the Tigers. When he had a miserable spring, many fans wanted Inge released before the season even started, and for him to be replaced with Danny Worth. The fans have now gotten their wish on that one.
