AAA: Norfolk 6, Toledo 5 (F/11)

Shawn Hill was the starter for Toledo. He allowed five runs in five innings while giving up three home runs. Evan Reed (2 IP, 1 K) and Jose Ortega (2 IP, 4 K) combined for four innings of scoreless, walkless relief to keep the Mud Hens close and force extra innings.

Jordan Lennerton had three hits — all singles — in five at-bats, and Nick Castellanos and Argenis Diaz both finished the night 2-5 with a double. Bryan Holaday also doubled and walked for the Mud Hens.

AA: Binghamton 4, Erie 3

Daniel Fields continues his rise (back) up the organizational ranking lists. Fields struck out twice tonight but he ended the day 2-4 with a home run. James McCann also had two hits (both singles) for the SeaWolves to bring his season batting average up to .342. Tyler Collins was 1-2 (single) and also drew two walks.

Warwick Saupold got the start and pitched seven scoreless innings with four strikeouts and two walks. Michael Morrison allowed four runs (three earned) in relief while only recording one out.

A-Advanced: Lakeland 12, Charlotte 3

The Flying Tigers pounded away at Charlotte pitching to the tune of 12 runs on 15 hits. Eugenio Suarez was 2-5 with a triple, Avisail Garcia was 4-5 with a triple as he continues to rehab from his injury, Jeff McVaney was 3-5 with a double and a home run, Pat Leyland was 1-4 with a double and a walk, and Brandon Loy singled and walked twice in five trips to the plate.

Kyle Ryan allowed one run on six hits and two walks to go with three strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work. Jade Todd struck out two and walked none, but allowed two runs in 2.2 innings in relief.

A: Beloit 6, West Michigan 1

Only six hitters reached base for West Michigan tonight (six hits, no walks). Lance Durham was 2-4 with a double (the only extra base hit), and David Gonzalez, Devon Travis, Zach Kirksey, and Danry Vasquez each had a single. That was it.

Yorfrank Lopez struck out three and didn’t walk a batter in five innings of work, but he allowed two runs to score on two solo home runs. Edgar De La Rosa came in to pitch three innings of relief. De La Rosa struck out three, but gave up four runs (two earned) on five walks and two hits.
