So it wasn’t really baseball weather–well by Florida standards at least.

The first pitch for the Detroit Tigers Grapefruit League home opener on Thursday, February 27 was met with cloudy skies and an unseasonably cool for Lakeland temperature of 57 degrees. Contrast that with the temperature in Detroit at 1:05: 10 degrees.

It was a day in which the Tigers combined their renewed commitment to the running game, strong pitching, and timely hitting to improve to 2-0 on the young spring season with a 5-2 victory.
