Yesterday’s Detroit Tigers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Grapefruit League game was rained out, and the Tigers are down to their final four spring training games in Florida. Three of the four games will take place in the friendly confines of Tiger Town and Joker Marchant Stadium, and two of those games will pit the Tigers against today’s opponent, the Atlanta Braves.

When We Last Met

The Tigers blanked the Braves by a 3-0 final score last Friday in the fourth meeting of the spring between the two teams (Detroit holds a 3-0-1 record). Justin Verlander pitched a strong outing that afternoon in preparation for his upcoming opening day start, going five innings with five strikeouts, one walk, five hits, and no runs allowed.

Lineup

Rick Porcello is the scheduled starter for the Tigers. He was supposed to pitch yesterday, but was scratched following his warm-up tosses due to inclement weather. The game was ultimately called, but it didn’t sound like the Tigers wanted him out there in potentially slippery conditions.
