When We Last Met
The Detroit Tigers were shut out by the Los Angeles Angels, 4-0. Justin Verlander pitched 7 innings and gave up three runs, earning a quality start, but also the loss, as his team failed to provide him with any run support. Joakim Soria made his debut for the Tigers and looked to be a little rusty from not having pitched since Tuesday. He gave up two singles and walked a batter, equaling to an earned run while recording one out, a strikeout.
Starting Pitchers
Rick Porcello(12-5, 3.42 ERA) gave up three runs on five hits against Arizona, but was not the pitcher of record. Porcello has been consistently good all season, with just a couple black marks so far this season. Porcello had a moment of redemption earlier in the season when he pitched 7 innings giving up only 1 run on 5 hits against the Angels after giving up 9 hits, 9 runs in 0.2 inning in their last meeting.
Porcello is 4-4 with a 7.39 ERA against the Angels in his career.
Hector Santiago(2-7, 4.02 ERA) last pitched 5 innings against Baltimore and didn’t allow a run on two hits and three walks. Santiago is 0-3 with a 2.08 ERA in 34.2 innings pitched against the Detroit Tigers in his career.
