When We Last Met

The Detroit Tigers had opportunity after opportunity to score runs last night, yet went into the ninth inning with rookie pitcher Kyle Lobstein on the hook for the loss after only giving up two runs in five and a third innings. The Tigers came away victorious after a three run bomb by J.D. Martinez to give them a 4-2 lead which Joe Nathan protected and saved in the bottom of the ninth.

Pitching Matchup 

Justin Verlander(12-11, 4.68 ERA) was dominant in his last start against the Chicago White Sox, going seven innings and giving up only one fun on nine hits and two walks. He struck out eight. Verlander is 18-15 with a 4.31 ERA against the Indians in his career.
