Game Preview

For the third time in five games, the Detroit Tigers will face a team from the Big Apple. The victory over the Mets on Saturday is actually the Tigers only win in the last 11 games. Over that span, Detroit is 1-8-2 (what is this hockey?)

Detroit was off on Monday while New York lost to Washington, 7-6.

When We Last Met

This is the second and final meeting of the Grapefruit League season for the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees. The Tigers haven’t had much success versus the Yankees this spring, going 0-2 while being outscored, 15-3, in those two games.

Perhaps the addition of first baseman Miguel Cabrera will help as he is expected to play on Tuesday and didn’t in the first two matchups with the Yankees.

Detroit Tigers Lineup

Anibal Sanchez gets the start for Detroit. He doesn’t have a decision in four starts this spring. Sanchez has posted a 4.05 ERA in 13 1/3 innings pitched with 12 strikeouts, two walks and three home runs allowed.

Right-handed pitcher Esmil Rogers will start for the Yankees. He is also 0-0 with a 2.89 ERA in nine 1/3 innings this spring.
