Game Preview
The series between the Detroit Tigers against the Kansas City Royals is the biggest baseball matchup of the weekend. This is the first series of the season between the two AL Central clubs. The winner of the four-game set will be in first place on Monday morning.
When We Last Met
Kansas City won the American League Pennant last season, but the Tigers went 13-6 versus the Royals in the 2014 regular season.
Pitching Matchup
Alfredo Simon has been one of the biggest pitching surprises in the American League this season and will hope to keep it going on Thursday. Simon is 4-0 with a 1.65 ERA and 0.95 WHIP. In the last 22 innings over his last three starts, Simon has allowed just two runs.
The 26-year-old lefty Danny Duffy will be on the hill for the Royals. He is 1-0 with a 4.15 ERA and 1.43 WHIP. Duffy has progressively gotten better over his four starts this season, and in his last outing, Duffy pitched 5 1/3 shutout innings in a no-decision against the White Sox.
