Detroit Tigers fans will be hoping for a win on Wednesday, as the team continues a road series against the Kansas City Royals. Here’s everything you need to watch the game.

Detroit Tigers baseball didn’t get off to the best start this week. After an on off day on Monday, the team opened a series against the Kansas City Royals. Detroit fell behind early after starter Shane Greene was tagged for seven runs, six hits, four walks and a hit batter in 4.1 innings pitched.

The Tigers will certainly be hoping for a better result on Wednesday, as Jordan Zimmermann takes the hill for just the third time as a member of Detroit’s rotation. Zimmermann has yet to allow a run this season, and has looked dominant in previous starts against the New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Pirates.

He’ll be opposed by Ian Kennedy, who has been nearly as dominant. The newest member of the Kansas City Rotation has only allowed one run in two starts this year.

Luckily for the Detroit Tigers,  a number of hitters have strong numbers against Kennedy. Ian Kinsler is a good bet to get a hit or two seeing as he’s a scorching 5-for-7 with three doubles and two RBI versus the Royals starter. Miguel Cabrera is 3-for-8 with a double, a triple and two RBI against the right-hander, while Justin Upton (3-for-12 with a home run and three walks) and Victor Martinez (2-for-6 with an RBI) are also hitting above .300 against Kennedy.

Per the Tigers official Twitter account, Brad Ausmus will send out the following lineup.

  1. Ian Kinsler, 2B
  2. Justin Upton, LF
  3. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
  4. Victor Martinez, DH
  5. J.D. Martinez, RF
  6. Nick Castellanos, 3B
  7. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
  8. Anthony Gose, CF
  9. Jose Iglesias, SS

This has been the Ausmus’ preferred group as of late, but that could change when Cameron Maybin returns from the disabled list. Also, tonight’s game will be nationally televised on ESPN, so any out of market fans who can’t catch the game (believe me, I’ve been there) will be able to watch all the action unfold instead of following the box score (I’ve also been there).
