Detroit Tigers players will look to start a new winning streak as the team takes on CC Sabathia and the New York Yankees. Mike Pelfrey will start the road contest for the Tigers.

Detroit Tigers players will look to bounce back from a loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, as the Tigers head to New York City to take on the Yankees. Detroit had previously won five in a row before the defeat.

Mike Pelfrey will get the nod for Brad Ausmus’ team as he matches up with C.C. Sabathia for the second time this season. The two pitchers faced off in an early April contest which Detroit was on the losing end of by a score of 8-4.

While Pelfrey will need to pitch better, his opponent will face a much improved Detroit lineup. For the April 9th contest, Ausmus trotted out a batting order that featured Nick Castellanos on the bench and Mike Aviles and Anthony Gose in the starting lineup. At the time, Victor Martinez was only hitting a meager .222.

Things have obviously changed since. Castellanos is starting at third base with Aviles is back on the bench for Friday’s contest. Gose is with Triple-A Toledo, and Martinez is hitting a league-leading .341.
