Detroit Tigers: Kansas City Royals Series Preview
By Ben Rosener
Detroit Tigers players were unable to win a road series against the Chicago White Sox, dropping the rubber match by a score of 5-3. The Tigers will now travel to Kansas City for four games.
Detroit Tigers fans have seen the team struggle somewhat on the road this season. Overall, Detroit is 16-19 away from Comerica Park. This isn’t a worrying number by any stretch, but the Tigers could still do better on their travels.
Finishing up a road trip that started in New York and continued in Chicago is a four-game set with the rival Kansas City Royals. As it stands, the Royals are only two games ahead of the Tigers in the American League Central standings, but Detroit owns a much better run differential. Brad Ausmus club is at +7 this season while Ned Yost’s team is hovering at -14.
The Tigers can make up some serious ground in the standings, as Kansas City is currently tied with Cleveland for first in the Central division.
This will mark the second time the two teams have matched up this season. Detroit previously dropped two of three in Kansas City earlier in the season, however both losses were close. The Tigers will be looking for a better result this time around.
