When Zach Simons was traded to the Detroit Tigers from the Colorado Rockies, he was not among one of the top relieving prospects in the Colorado system. So when the Tigers needed to make room for Fransisco Cruceta, and Jason Grilli was being booed out of Comerica Park, Simons was rooting for another chance. When the Rockies dealt him to Detroit for the Italian Stallion: Jason Grilli, Simmons began his reasscendence into being a top [...]

Brent Clevlen clears Waivers
According to 97.1 The Ticket in Detroit, Tigers outfielder Brent Clevlen has cleared waivers this afternoon, and will Join the Toledo Mudhens to start the 2009 season. Clevlen, who was battling for the 25th spot on the roster, lost out to Jeff Larish in the final week of spring training. Clevlen hit .279 with AAA Toledo last season, with 22 bombs and 82 RBIs.
Clevlen, who was Baseball America’s #16 top prospect in the organization last season, fell out of the top 30 in the 2009 Baseabll America top Tigers prospects. Last season, Clevlen had a 44 game on base streak [...]
Nothing is better on a Tuesday afternoon then heading to work for a weekly production meeting, leaving the radio station, heading to get one of your favorite chinese entrees, and finally opening up your laptop to find that (Insert Dramatic music here) Gary Sheffield is no longer a Detroit Tiger.
Sheffield, who is one home run away from the elusive 500 club was surprised and shocked at the move, citing that he hadn’t even thought of it as a possibility. Dave Dombrowski and Jim Leyland dropped the news on the future hall of fame candidate.
The move will now give the Tigers [...]
This afternoon, 97.1 the Ticket’s Karsh and Anderson were joined live in Lakeland, Florida by Tigers play by play announcer Dan Dickerson that the competition for the 5th starter is not even close. Dickerson went on to say that when watching Porcello this spring training, his fastball has been in the mid 90’s, but has a lot of movement and is hard to get in the air.
Dickerson also talked about the real possibility of Ryan Perry making the squad, saying there are two to three open spots in the bullpen, and the Perry is making his mark when he enters [...]
This afternoon as the Tigers took on the St. Louis Cardinals, Zach Miner had a real oppurtunity to etch his name onto the true fifth spot contender list. After seven hits, three runs and three innings pitched, The sinker balling righty might have scratched his name on the bullpen wall.
Meanwhile, talk of Rick Porcello heading north is heating up. The youngster was poised, confident and didn’t give up a run, despite five hits and only one strikeout against the Florida Marlins on Monday. But at 20 years old, I still don’t feel the former first round pick is ready for [...]
Moving in can really be a pain sometimes. Especially with the WBC and Spring Training underway. But hey, I’m here now and starting to get back on track. Here is the latest surrounding our Detroit Tigers.
World Baseball Classic:
-Tigers fans hoping to catch Chinese Taipei pitcher Fu-Te Ni pitch against Korea, were let down this morning at around 4:15 A.M. The Taipei squad faces elimination tonight, when they take on a much improved Chinese club.
-Curtis Granderson and Team USA will take on a really tough Canada team tomorrow at 2 PM ET. Canada is led by division foe Justin Morneau, Russell Martin and [...]

The Tigers Offense On Paper
We are just one day away from the Spring Training. 19 hours and 34 minutes to be exact as I write this. Like always, I am wondering, “Does this team has what it takes?” Offensively, it seems that the Tigers have slimmed run production by adding defense. Today, I want to know if this is true. Thanks to Fan Graphs and Bill James, plus some of my own configuration, I look to find that answer. Here are the numbers of the 13 players I assume will make the Tigers roster, and their offensive projections.
1. Curtis Granderson, OF- 155 games, [...]
