As we all know by now, the Tigers plan to designate for assignment tomorrow shortstop Adam Everett, he of the .185 batting average, and recall infielder Danny Worth to take his place.
This seems almost a lateral move to me, as neither Everett nor Worth are ever going to hit all that much. Everett has an above average glove, and so does Worth, at least potentially, but Worth is likely to hit a bit more. Not a lot more, mind up, just a bit more.
Worth has never been a great hitter in the minors, so counting on him to all of a sudden [...]

Adam Everett’s days as a Detroit Tiger are reportedly over. Everett will be designated for assignment on Tuesday while Danny Worth will be recalled from AAA Toledo.
Danny Worth has played eight games with Toledo since returning from his stint with the Tigers and has hit 0.344 in those games. He hit for a good average while with the Tigers but showed no power and did not draw a walk in his 25 plate appearance. Worth’s value comes with his glove as he is looks smooth in either middle infield position.
Adam Everett has been known as a very good defensive shortstop [...]
Detroit 3, Kansas City 7 (box)
Max Scherzer fanned 14 batters in his last start, his first outing since being recalled. Last night in Kansas City, he managed only three.
Though Scherzer (2-5) was throwing hard, at times touching 98 mph with his heater, his location was poor, and Royals batters made him pay.
For Kansas City, who came into the game with the second-highest team batting average in the league, the offense was lead by Scott Podsednik and Jason Kendall. The top two batters in the Royals lineup went a combined 5-for-6 with two walks. They scored five of the [...]
Adam Everett vs Danny Worth
There’s a interesting question floating around the Tigersphere these days. When Carlos Guillen is activated from the disabled list, which could happen by the time I hit “publish” on this post, whom should be the player removed from the active roster?
You can toss around all the names you’d like, but my gut (in all its ample-ness) tells me neither Don Kelly nor Ryan Raburn are getting the ax. The obvious answer is Danny Worth, as he was just here to keep the seat warm for Guillen, anyway.
What’s that you say? What about Adam Everett? Well, [...]
The Tigers 5-4 loss (box) to the Seattle Mariners comes with two welcomed facts: no more West coast trips and Miguel Cabrera will be back in his familiar clean up spot in the order.
Whenever a player of Miguel Cabrera’s caliber is out someone else must step up to fill the void. Today that man was Magglio Ordonez. Maggs finished with 3 hits, including a two run home run to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead in the third.
The game stayed 2-1 until the sixth when the Tigers broke through for two two-out runs. An Adam Everett double scored Danny Worth [...]
Tigers Recall Ryan Raburn
Following last night’s 4-1 loss to the Dodgers in L.A., the Detroit Tigers made a roster move recalling utilityman Ryan Raburn from AAA Toledo and optioning OF Casper Wells to the MudHens.
Raburn, who was sent out 10 days ago, was pounding the ball in AAA. In the minors because the Tigers had needed an extra arm, Raburn batted .444 (12-for-27) while on assignment including two doubles and two runs batted in.
The fact that he spent only the minimum amount of time in Toledo means that he has yet to burn his final option year. A player must spend [...]
Going back to the end of the dismal 2008 season, fans of the Detroit Tigers have been wondering aloud why Ramon Santiago isn’t just given the starting job at shortstop. Santiago has been a dependable reserve over the years, ably manning both short and second whenever the regular needed a day off.
He has hit a little and played generally solid defense (to the eye at least), and he is said to have some of the softest hands in the league when it comes to fielding grounders.
But Tigers manager Jim Leyland has been hesitant at best when it comes to giving Santiago the playing time [...]
Detroit 5, Los Angeles 4 (box)
With a chance to salvage a series split before heading off to Texas, the Detroit Tigers turned to their ace right hander, Justin Verlander, against the Los Angeles Angels of Thursday night. While the final score will show the Verlander got the job done, the real victory in this game goes to his bullpen.
Verlander fell into the same rut that has plagued him in each of his first three starts this year. He struggled mightily in the first inning, facing eight batters and allowing two runs. Verlander, handed a 2-0 lead to start the game, [...]
