Here at The Corner, we round up Detroit Tigers news and rumors around the Tigers blogosphere so that you don’t spend hours surfing the web searching.

The Detroit Tigers have officially promoted Alex Faedo from Single-A Lakeland. The Detroit News is reporting that the Tigers have promoted Faedo and OF Daz  Cameron from Lakeland to Double-A Erie. Before the MLB Draft, Faedo was the Tigers’ #4 prospect and Cameron was the Tigers’ #6 prospect.

The Tigers are somehow playing in playoff contention. No one really knows how or why. It’s just a strange season of chaos. Even the Big Lead, of USA Today Sports, tries to figure it out. They’re a ragtag team of players that were projected to lose 95 games. The American League Central decided it’d be a ragtag bunch as well and get all our hopes up.

97.1 personality WoJo asks if the Detroit Tigers winning is more than just curiosity? I’m not sure that the state of the AL Central allows for us to reasonably answer the question. When June comes around and the Tigers sell off what trade assets they have it’ll be a miserable second half of the summer.

The Tigers are almost a .500 team as Bless You Boys points out. Don’t forget though, that Jordan Zimmerman and Francisco Liriano are returning. Zimmerman posted a 94.50 ERA in his first rehab start and Liriano posted an 18.00 ERA. But, yes the Tigers are playing close to .500 ball in a division that feels like its AAAA ball.

The bullpen has been a surprisingly bright spot during the Tigers playing recently. George Sipple, of the Detroit Free Press, has three observations about the bullpen as of late. Also at the Free Press, five numbers that you need to know. Finally, Al Avila commented on the future of the Tigers prospects and the rebuild. Including that, it’s too early to say that Castellanos is the foundation of the said rebuild.
