Detroit Tigers: Home Run Derby Tonight and other All-Star break news

The Detroit Tigers are resting while the All-Star break is going on in Washington D.C. Tonight, the Home Run Derby is taking place and there are eight participants in this year’s Derby. The Tigers don’t have any participants in this year’s Derby, but they have a rich history in the Home Run Derby writes our own Andy Patton.
The All-Star break signifies the end of the first half of the MLB season. This generally means that teams and general managers are given grades on the first half of the season. Kurt Mensching, special to the Detroit News, writes that Tigers GM Al Avila has had more hits than misses so far this season.
Kyle Yost, of Bless You Boys, writes that Niko Goodrum has been defining the Tigers rebuilding year so far. The Detroit Tigers reunited with former ace Justin Verlander over the weekend. It didn’t go as planned as the Olde English D got the better of JV in his first time facing his former team.
