On the same day MLB released a statement on COVID-19 testing, MLB took a page from the NFL by announcing the Detroit Tigers schedule on MLB Network.

Here it is folks, the Detroit Tigers’ schedule for 2020. We already know that they play 10 games against each division team but as they did the announcement, MLB Network did not show the dates for some reason.

Instead of four games against all NL Central teams, there is a bit of unbalance as the Tigers face the Reds six times and only facing the Cubs and Pirates three times. Detroit will play two exhibition games against the Reds on July 21 and 22 before opening the season for a three game series on the road in Cincinnati on July 24. Here’s how the rest of the schedule lines up with all Tigers games, home and road, will be broadcast on 97.1 The Ticket and the Tigers Radio Network, TV wise on FOX Sports Detroit and streamed on MLB.tv.

Detroit starts the season in Ohio and finish their home schedule against a Ohio team. Geographically speaking, the further west Detroit goes is to Kansas City at 763.8 miles. There is a creeping doubt that the season may not even happen with players such as former Tigers lefty David Price opting out for the Dodgers and others. For Detroit, there has been players missing in camp but the Tigers brass has kept quiet about it. Anthony Fenech of the Free Press had this tweet earlier about the situation.

Over the weekend, multiple Major League Baseball teams announced that players had tested positive for the coronavirus. The Tigers apparently would prefer for us to publicly identify these players and speculate about the reasons for their absences.

Worth noting that the Twins, Cardinals, Indians and White Sox were among the teams with the easiest strengths of schedules. Expect more of a breakdown from our staff in the next few days.
