New Detroit Tigers second baseman Gleyber Torres has already turned the page on the unsavory end to his time with the New York Yankees. But apparently, they haven't done the same.

During an appearance on the YES Network’s Yankees Hot Stove on Thursday night, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman was asked about the team’s current situation at third base. In his answer, however, he immediately started talking about last season.

More specifically, Cashman brought up the fact that Torres wasn’t open to moving to third base after the Yankees acquired Jazz Chisholm from the Miami Marlins at the trade deadline. It was assumed that Chisholm would play second base or center field in New York, but he ended up at third base because Torres didn't want to move off of second.

“When I acquired Jazz, I acquired Jazz to be our second baseman and move Gleyber to third the rest of last year,” Cashman said. "[Manager Aaron Boone] wanted to do it the other way. He moved Jazz to third after we got him and kept Gleyber at second because Gleyber didn’t want to move to third and was unwilling.”

Clearly, Cashman still hasn't moved on, and that fact wasn't lost on Torres himself. Less than an hour after Cashman's interview aired, Torres took to social media to respond with an apparent sub-tweet of his former GM.

“Still?” Torres posted Thursday night on X. “Just turn (the page).” Then he deleted the tweet.

We can't blame Torres for responding to Cashman's comments. Considering that the Yankees didn't even offer him a contract when the season ended, it really is long past time for Cashman to let this thing go.

When the Tigers signed Torres to a one-year, $15 million deal in free agency, they were happy to accommodate his desire to play second base by moving Colt Keith over to first. The Yankees, meanwhile, continue to publicly shame him for what's been their fault for building an inadquate roster.

Oh, well. Torres is with the Tigers now, and it's all water under the bridge – well, for Torres, at least.
