Detroit Tigers are heading to Williamsport in 2024.

It seemingly slipped under the rug, but the Detroit Tigers will play in a special contest during the 2024 season as part of their regular season slate of games. They will be heading to Williamsport, Penn. to take part in the 2024 Little League Classic.

It was announced back in August that the Detroit Tigers will be taking on the New York Yankees in a 2024 regular season game as part of the Little League Classic. It will be a nationally televised game on ESPN as part of the Sunday Night Baseball broadcast.

It will be an excellent opportunity for the Tigers players, as most of them will use special equipment as has been done in prior years for this game. It's a cool touch for the game's production value, and the teams will be in Williamsport taking part in some of the festivities that day before the game, getting involved with the teams and players who made it to the Little League World Series.

It may just be one game and news that may not be earth-shattering, but it's an incredible experience for all involved. The Tigers, the Yankees, and all of the players, coaches, families, and staff who will be in Williamsport, hosting a big league game.

It's something that Major League Baseball has been doing since 2017, holding games there each year since (excluding 2020 due to COVID-19), and Detroit gets the nod in 2024. A good amount of former Little League World Series (LLWS) players have gone on to become big leaguers.

According to the LLWS website, 64 players have made their way to the biggest stage, playing in Major League Baseball. There's even several players who played a stint with the Tigers organization, including Jonathan Schoop, who's a familiar face from the past few seasons.

While the players in Williamsport have a long road ahead to reach the big leagues, some players who will partake in the 2024 LLWS could be big leaguers one day. Detroit will get a chance to have their players get involved with the LLWS players and give them a one-of-a-kind experience.

It may be a long time before the Tigers hit the field, and this game even comes into focus, but they will be participating in the 2024 Little League Classic.
