The Detroit Tigers are under .500, but they are still in second place in the AL Central heading into Tuesday’s matchup with the Kansas City Royals.

Detroit roughed up Brady Singer in a win over the Royals on Monday night, and it’ll look to do the same to the last-place team in the AL Central tonight.

The Royals have yet to announce a starter for this game, and they may use a bullpen game instead of calling up a pitcher. KC ranks 26th in MLB in bullpen ERA so far this season.

Meanwhile, the Tigers will have lefty Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound for the 10th time this season. E-Rod has been great, posting a 2.06 ERA through his first nine starts in 2023.

Let’s break down the odds and a best bet for this matchup:

Tigers vs. Royals odds, run line and total

Tigers vs. Royals prediction and pick

The Royals have dropped four straight games, as well as eight of their last 10, to fall five games back of fourth place in the AL Central.

Kansas City has just 14 wins on the season, and I simply don’t trust this team’s bullpen to hold up, especially if it has to pitch a full game on Tuesday.

Both of these teams have struggled on offense during the 2023 campaign, but the Tigers can at least rely on E-Rod, who has allowed one or fewer runs in six of his nine starts this season.

The Royals have been better against left-handed pitching than righties, but they are also one of the worst home teams in MLB, going 6-18 this season.

I’ll back Rodriguez to put together a strong start against one of Major League Baseball’s worst teams.
