The Tigers this morning announced that left handed reliever Daniel Schlereth has been recalled from AAA Toledo and will be uniform for tonight’s game with Seattle.

Schlereth, acquired in the Granderson trade, replaced Fu-Te Ni on the active roster after Ni was optioned out following Wednesday night’s game. The son of former NFL lineman Mark, now an ESPN analyst, Schlereth brings a huge minor league strikeout rate (45 K’s in 35 IP) with him to the Tigers, but hopefully he’ll leave his control problems in Toledo. He was walked 26 batters and hit two more in those 35 minor league innings this year.

Schlereth was a first round draft pick of the Diamondbacks in 2008, and made it all the way to the big leagues last year. He appeared in 21 games for Arizona in 2009, posting a 1-4 record and 5.89 ERA. He struck out 22 batters over 18.1 innings, but also walked 15.
