Will Rhymes Giving Back to the Fans

To commemorate the Detroit Tigers first American League Central Championship, and first in any division since 1987, second baseman Will Rhymes is giving away copies of the Maple Street Press 2011 Tigers Annual. Rhymes made the announcement via his facebook page yesterday. If you missed on on buying the Annual when it was in bookstores and on newsstands this Spring, this is probably your last chance to get your hands on one.

Not only was Rhymes the Tigers Opening Day second baseman this year, but he also penned a column for the Annual. Rhymes joined esteemed Tigers writers like Lee Panas, Ian Casselberry, Kurt Mensching, Bill Ferris, (just to name a few) and even a lowly (now former) MCB Editor in contributing to a truly great book.

If nothing else, getting a copy of this Annual will allow you to revel in the woeful predictions offered up by yours truly. I had the Tigers pegged to win 88 games this year, but they were to have finished behind the White Sox in the division. I had the Twins third, and they could yet lose 100 games.

Details on Rhymes’ giveaway have not yet been disclosed, so make sure you like his page to get updates. While you’re there, go ahead and like MCB as well.

While plans have not yet been finalized on a 2012 Annual, I’m confident that Maple Street Press will choose to create another one for the upcoming year. It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun to do and I hope they invite us all back to do it again this fall.
