The Detroit Tigers travel to Bosto nin a position where winning both remaining games is the only way to advance to the World Series. That’s obviously not a spot you want to be in, but if you’re going to be there, you might as well be there with Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander scheduled to pitch.
But the Tigers aren’t going to be able to rely solely on the strength of the starting pitching in order to steal this series from the Boston Red Sox; it will take complete games from the offense, defense, and bullpen as well. The Tigers are just 2-3 this postseason when either Scherzer or Verlander has started (despite them always pitching well) because of reasons of lack of run support or bullpen implosions.
