Game Preview

The Detroit Tigers will look to avoid continuing on their spring free-fall while donning their traditional green St. Patrick’s Day garb.

In games that don’t really matter no one is too concerned about the fact Detroit has dropped seven of their last eight games and four straight overall.

Yesterday in the second game of a two-day trip to Jupiter, FL, the Tigers received a sparkling pitching effort from David Price et al but a toothless offensive attack led to a 1-0 defeat to the St. Louis Cardinals.

When We Last Met

The Washington Nationals started the Detroit free-fall with a 9-2 defeat of the Bengals last Wednesday. Price and Josh Zeid were knocked around in that contest held in Viera, FL.

Detroit Tigers Lineup

Ex-Tigers Max Scherzer nor Doug Fister will pitch on Tuesday afternoon, but current Tiger ace Justin Verlander will toe the rubber after a sharp performance in his last outing. Though he got into a bit of trouble in his first start, he was near perfect against the Philadelphia Phillies last Thursday. In two outings, spanning five innings, J.V. has allowed two hits, two walks and no runs and has struck out three.

Though no ex-Tigers will be on the mound, it still will be somewhat exciting as Detroit batters will face Stephen Strasburg.

Ian Kinsler is slated to return to the lineup for the first time in several games. Yoenis Cespedes will play, but might swap with J.D. Martinez for DH depending on how he feels after batting practice.
