Scott Sizemore Recalled, Not in Lineup tonight

The Tigers have lost seven consecutive games heading into action tonight, they’ll play their second game without third baseman Brandon Inge, who’ll miss at least the next four weeks.

In order to at least temporarily help fill-in at the hot corner, the Tigers have recalled INF Scott Sizemore from AAA Toledo while optioning out RHP Casey Fien.

Sizemore has played well in Toledo since being demoted early in the season, and while he’s traditionally a second baseman, he’s been getting work at third with the Hens as well. Apparently, that matters little to Jim Leyland, who filled in the name Don Kelly as the third baseman for the second straight night.

Kelly played well in last night’s game, contributing a hit (one of only four by the Tigers) and turning in some solid defensive plays. At worst (or is it at best?) Kelly will form the left handed half of a platoon between he and Sizemore at the hot corner going forward.
