Down on the Farm: Casey Crosby Gets Clobbered By The Curve

A few days ago, I discussed three recovering arms in AA-Erie to keep an eye on this season. While Austin Wood has already logged an inning of scoreless ball, today Casey Crosby began his return from the disabled list.

Unfortunately today Crosby posted results that were anything but positive. Altoona Curve batters hit .400 off of Crosby this afternoon. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, surrendering 6 hits and 3 walks. His ERA sits at 16.87 after he surrendered 6 runs (5 earned).

We’re only one start in so it’s quite possible that Crosby is still knocking off the rust. However, the negative results are worth noting. After-all he struggled a bit in Minor League Camp too. Coming off of an injury, with a pretty extensive injury history I am surprised that he was promoted to AA-Erie. The hitter friendly confines of Jerry Uht Park might provide a tall task for Crosby this season.
