Tigers Miss Out on Boston’s Injury Parade This Time Around

The Boston Red Sox will be without two of their top five starting pitchers for the next couple of weeks with John Lackey and Daisuke Matsuzaka hitting the disabled list. Tim Wakefield and Alfredo Aceves will be stepping up to join the rotation.

Rob Neyer has the story:

Unfortunately, the Tigers won’t be able to take advantage of Boston’s maimed starting rotaion in the two-game set that begins today — they’re scheduled to face Clay Buchholz and Josh Beckett — but if the new Boston rotation holds (and John Lackey doesn’t return right away on June 27), then they’ll see Aceves and Wakefield in the first two games of the four-game series at Comerica Park next week.
