Down on the Farm: Drew Smyly Returns From the DL
On April 23rd, the Tigers 2011 draft pick Drew Smyly was placed on the disabled list. Prior to being shelved, Smyly posted a 4.08 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP in 17 2/3 innings with the Flying Tigers.
After spending a month on the DL, Smyly returned to action on Saturday evening against the St. Louis Cardinals Advanced-A Affiliate.
In his return, Smyly lasted five innings surrendering two runs over six hits and one walk. Drew racked up three strikeouts and lowered his ERA to 3.97 this season.
I think I can speak for all of us here at MotorCityBengals.com when I say that I am very happy to see Drew healthy and back on the mound. Drew Smyly will make his next start on Friday, June 3rd, at 7:05 p.m. in Lakeland against the Ft. Myers Miracle.
