Penny Skipped, Verlander to Start vs. Indians
By Editorial Staff

According to Jason Beck on Twitter, Justin Verlander will start next Thursday vs. the Indians replacing Brad Penny. The Tigers have an off day Monday, and since Verlander is throwing tonight, he’ll be on normal rest. In addition, Leyland states that he’s mapped out the rest of the season’s rotation, and Justin will start 11 of the team’s next 50 games. If Verlander keeps up his pace of 7.5 IP per start, he’ll will get to 264 innings pitched for the season, which would be the most since Roy Halladay‘s 266 in 2003 (where he only walked 32 batters all season).
