Guillen Back On DL

Carlos Guillen is back on the DL.

We all knew it was going to happen sooner or later, right?

This is a guy who has basically lived on the disabled list the past 3 years or so, so… let’s just say that if I just told you that somebody on the team was headed to the DL with a sore wrist, he would probably be leading vote-getter. And wrist it is. Guillen says it has been hurting him for a few days, which is unfortunately not long enough to blame his hitting woes entirely on that wrist. For a normal batter, you’d figure 15 days would be long enough for this to heal, but with Guillen I guess you just keep your fingers crossed.

At any rate, Guillen hasn’t been contributing all that much to the Tigers squad offensively, so losing him for a while isn’t really going to sting. Will Rhymes, who has been doing everything he’s physically capable of doing down in Toledo, finally gets called back up to the show to take Guillen’s place though presumably Ryan Raburn will see the majority of the playing time at second.
