That was fast. Just hours after reports surfaced that he was heading to Detroit to seek treatment for a possible concussion, the Detroit Tigers have stated that he’s been cleared to play.

"Aliva caught the remainder of the fourth inning afer being hit but was replaced by Brayan Pena in the fifth and reported feeling light-headed, dizzy and nauseous. He went to a local hospital to be checked for a possible concussion and a Tigers spokesperson said this morning that Avila has been cleared to play and will be at tonight’s game at Yankee Stadium."

I would guess that he’s still not going to play right away (though I now don’t have a good track record with my opinions and assumptions regardin this apparent injury), the above quote from MLive simply states that he will be at the game tonight, but it’s clearly a good sign that he has apparently not been diagnosed with a concussion

The Tigers take on the New York Yankees tonight at 7 PM in the Bronx. Rick Porcello will be on the mound for the Tigers; Ivan Nova (3.08 ERA) will get the ball for the Yankees. This game will mark Alex Rodriguez‘s first home game since his injury and following the announcement of the Biogenesis suspensions.
