Detroit Tigers Trade Rumors: Team may be nearing deal for LHP Andrew Miller–OR NOT
By Matt Pelc

The Detroit Tigers trade rumor mill has been relatively quiet after landing Joakim Soria from the Texas Rangers last week, but it has been ratcheted up today, with just a couple hours to go before the Trade Deadline. According to Jon Morosi, the team could be close to landing another bullpen piece.

If dealt, Andrew Miller would join several Red Sox players on the move, including Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes (to Oakland for Yoenis Cespedes), and John Lackey (to St. Louis).

Tigers’ fans might remember Miller from being one of the organization’s prized prospects in the mid-2000’s, spending time with the big league club in parts of 2006 and 2007 before being shipped in the package of players to the Florida Marlins for Miguel Cabrera.
Miller would give the Tigers a much needed lefty upgrade in the bullpen from Ian Krol and/or Phil Coke. He is 3-5 with a 2.34 ERA in 42.1 innings this season and is sporting a 0.898 WHIP.
He is a free agent after this season.
UPDATE, according to ESPN Boston, he ain’t coming here.
