Game Preview
The Detroit Tigers hit the road again for its first of three meetings with the Philadelphia Phillies this week.
When We Last Met
The Tigers did not face the Phillies during the regular season last season, but did split two games with the Fightin’ Phils last Spring Training. During the regular season in 2013, the Tigers swept the only three-game set between the two clubs, outscoring the Phillies, 24-5.
Detroit Tigers Lineup
Tigers starting pitcher Alfredo Simon will take the hill for the second time this spring. In his first appearance, he pitched two shutout innings versus the Atlanta Braves and did not allow a hit. Left-handed ace Cliff Lee was scheduled to be the Phillies starter, but an MRI on Monday revealed Lee has mild inflammation in his left elbow. Lee will not get the ball and his next start is TBD.
Instead of Lee, Philadelphia will send right hander Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez to the mound.
Good news for Tiger fans. Jose Iglesias will return to the lineup for the first time since taking a line drive off the shin late last week. He will bat second behind second baseman Ian Kinsler. Here is the rest of the Tigers lineup:
1. Ian Kinsler (R) 2B
2. Jose Iglesias (R) SS
3. Tyler Collins (L) LF
4. J.D. Martinez (R) RF
5. Nick Castellanos (R) 3B
6. Steven Moya (L) DH
7. Daniel Fields (L) CF
8. Bryan Holaday (R) C
9. Aaron Westlake (L) 1B
