As you can see, the staff is much more bearish on the Detroit Tigers’ chances at winning the division. Only three of eight picked Detroit to win their fifth straight division title.

While Steve Mitzel and Josh Scramlin have the Tigers losing the division to the Chicago White Sox, they both have Detroit earning a wild-card appearance (we will get to that in a later slide).

Although there is not much uniformity among the picks here, a couple things stand out–the Minnesota Twins have no shot (sorry Twinkies’ fans) and the defending American League Champions are receiving little love, with only Dave picking the Kansas City Royals to go back to the postseason.

So why did the staff pick the Tigers to finish where they did?

We’ll let them explain it in their own words….
