Detroit Tigers baseball returns to the friendly confines of Comerica Park on Friday for the team’s home opener. Jordan Zimmermann will make his Detroit debut against Luis Severino and the Yankees.

The Detroit Tigers are once again playing at home, and all seems right in the world. The Tigers are coming off a successful two-game sweep of the Marlins in Miami that was filled with positives.

Detroit featured a balanced offensive attack. Predictably, the offense was led by the usual suspects—Ian Kinsler, Miguel Cabrera, J.D. Martinez, Victor Martinez and Justin Upton. However, the Tigers also received strong contributions from the likes of Anthony Gose, Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Jose Iglesias.

As a whole, the team combined for five home runs against the Fish in just two games played.

Not only will Tigers fans be able to see Jordan Zimmermann make his debut against the Yankees, a team he has found success against in the past, but they will also witness Victor Martinez being unleashed on New York. After two pinch-hitting appearances in South Beach, V-Mart returns to the middle of the order and the designated hitter spot.

Here are three things to know for Opening Day in Detroit.
