The consensus among many was that the Detroit Tigers would use their first pick of the Rule 5 Draft to select Nick Burdi, instead, they chose Victor Reyes.

Burdi would have missed the first half of the season for the Detroit Tigers and they decided that the wait wasn’t worth it. MLB.com had an in-depth breakdown of the Tigers newest prospect.

Reyes was a member of the Diamondbacks farm system before being left exposed to the Rule 5 draft.

2017 wasn’t the greatest year to be a Detroit Tigers fan but it did provide some memorable moments, we broke down the top 5 of them here. Ian Kinsler was traded to the Angels by the Detroit Tigers, and he said goodbye via Instagram.

Detroit Sports Nation thinks that GM Al Avila dropped the ball in the Kinsler Trade, citing Avila’s admission of only one team being interested in acquiring the second baseman.

In their words:

"What Avila should have done was continue to hold onto Kinsler until the 2018 MLB trade deadline and hope a contender in need of a second baseman emerged. Now, there is no guarantee that suiter would ever step to the plate but there certainly would have been a chance. But instead, Avila decided to sell off one of the leaders of the team for a bag of balls."

SB Nation’s Bless You Boys had their top five Ian Kinsler moments, you can take a look at them here. In exchange for Kinsler, the Detroit Tigers get a pair of prospects, both top 30 in the Angels organization.
