Here at The Corner, we round up Detroit Tigers news and rumors around the Tigers blogosphere so that you don’t spend hours surfing the web searching.

The Detroit Tigers have gone through their first round of spring training cuts. According to Evan Woodbery, of MLive.com, the Tigers have reassigned three pitchers. Victor Alcantara, Paul Volker, and top pick Alex Faedo were reassigned to minor league camp. The trio of pitchers was unlikely to make the big club as Woodbery notes.

The Detroit Tigers square off against the Rays today at Joker Marchant Stadium. The Detroit Press has all the details on how you can follow today’s game. Tigers prospect Christin Stewart might not be at the big league camp. But, he still continues to impress the Tigers writes George Sipple.

Tigers outfielder is reportedly Nicholas Castellanos is ready to go with the regular season. He’s looking to continue on the solid batting he had in September after being moved to the outfield.

Slugger Miguel Cabrera is already feeling better about the upcoming season. He racked up two more hits in Friday’s win writes Chris McCosky. He’s looking to bounce back this season. Niko Goodrum hit his second home run of spring training. Anthony Fenech, of the Detroit Free Press, writes that Goodrum has solidified his place with a bench role. The home run was a 2-run sac fly in the victory over the Marlins. Dick Scanlon, of the Ledger, writes that Goodrum is simply looking to fill a need with the Tigers.   Chad Huffman is in is second stint with the Tigers and he’s hoping to make the opening day roster.
