Detroit Tigers: 2018 lineup starting to take form

Here at The Corner, we round up Detroit Tigers news and rumors around the Tigers blogosphere so that you don’t spend hours surfing the web searching.

The Detroit Tigers announced yesterday that lefty Francisco Liriano will be in the starting rotation this season. Only Liriano and ace Michael Fulmer are current locks to have jobs in the starting rotation.

The Tigers brought in Liriano because of his veteran experience, and his arm, skipper Ron Gardenhire told reporters on Sunday.

The starting rotation isn’t the only part of the Tigers lineup that still needs work. Chris McCosky, of the Detroit News, writes that the batting order is still a work in progress.

CBS Sports is reporting that it at least looks like Jose Iglesias will bat number two for the team. With how well Leonys Martin has been this spring training, it shouldn’t be a surprise if he bats leadoff when the regular season rolls around. Anthony Fenech, of the Detroit Free Press, gives his updated projection of the teams opening day roster.

The Tigers are rallying around one of the the strength coaches. George SIpple writes that the strength coach was recenlty diagnosed with cancer.
