Detroit Tigers: Gardenhire is making baseball fun to watch

After the Detroit Tigers dropped their third straight loss skipper Ron Gardenhire had a solution. It wasn’t to yell at the team or make them practice more. Jeff Siedel, of the Detroit Free Press, writes that Gardenhire had the team turn on music and have a cold beer.

It was a solution that seemed to work as the Tigers won the next game to get out of their three-game losing streak.  Tigers outfielder Leonys Martin had a blip on Friday in the Tigers win. A fly ball bounced off his forehead in the ninth. Chris McCosky, of the Detroit News, writes that after the game the team found the replay to be funny.

A pair of Tigers prospects were named to yesterdays minor league top performers. Both Beu Borrows and Alex Faedo led their respective clubs to wins and their performances were noteworthy.

Matt Harvey‘s era in Gotham City has come to an end. After refusing to take a minor league assignment from the Mets, the team DFA’d the starter. Our own Andy Patton looks at whether the Tigers should take a chance on the former All-Star pitcher.

According to beat writer Anthony Fenech, Ron Gardenhire doesn’t think that’ll happen. Fenech notes that the Tigers aren’t looking to spend a lot of money and Harvey is owed over $5 million this season.
