Detroit Tigers: Tigers set to take on the Rangers

The Detroit Tigers are taking on the Texas Rangers in their next series. The first game is tonight with first scheduled tonight at 8:05 PM. Andy Patton has our preview of what you can expect in the series.  Over at Lone Star Ball, they have the Rangers perspective of what to expect from the series.

The Detroit Pistons let Steve Van Gundy go today and Jamie Samuelson, of 97.1 the Ticket, writes that the Tigers have the most exciting rebuild going on in the Motor City. Part of the rebuilding process is stockpiling prospects. In this years MLB draft, the Tigers have the number one overall draft pick.

Lynn Henning, of the Detroit News, writes that pitcher Casey Mize is the clear-cut favorite for the Tigers to select with their draft pick. Mize is a right-handed pitcher out of Auburn who has dominated throughout his college career.

With the season well underway beat writer Anthony Fenech gives his observations on the Detroit Tigers. Most notably he thinks that Jose Iglesias still doesn’t get it. The Detroit Free Press also has five numbers you need to know this week about the Detroit Tigers.
