Nearly a month ago we looked at the top five fantasy players for the Detroit Tigers. Here is an update on the top five fantasy players so far this season.

The Detroit Tigers are two games within first of the AL Central. They also hold the third best batting average in baseball. Somehow they’ve been scraping together wins.  As is the case of the first time we did this article we are using the FanSided Experts scoring system. Which somehow I haven’t notched a single victory in.

The first time we did this list the top five were as follows:

5. Francisco Liriano

4. Leonys Martin (Now on the DL)

3. Jeimer Candelario (Also on the DL)

2. Miguel Cabrera (Eligible to come off of the DL)

1. Nicholas Castellanos

Despite three of the five players from this list being on the disabled list, it has hardly changed in the span of nearly a month.

The fifth best player is still a pitcher. It’s Detroit Tigers ace Michael Fulmer however, instead of Francisco Liriano. Liriano has fallen down to the third-best fantasy pitcher behind Fulmer and Matt Boyd. Fulmer has racked up 144 fantasy points so far. Although, over the last two games he’s seen his ERA jump from 2.80 to 4.37 as he’s given up eleven earned runs in ten innings.

The fourth best fantasy player is Miguel Cabrera who is currently on the ten-day disabled list. He’s eligible to come off that on Monday, but it sounds like he’s going to take his time coming back.

Jumping out one spot from last month is Leonys Martin. The third best fantasy player so far, Martin is also on the ten-day disabled list. He’s eligible to return to the Tigers Friday and the expectations are that he will do just that.

Next: What the Tigers should expect from the number one pick

Jeimer Candelario also moved up one spot coming in at number two. The third player on the ten-day disabled list. He’ll have to undergo wrist surgery in the off-season but for now, he’s resting and rehabbing to prevent further injury.

Still at number one is Tigers slugger Nicholas Castellanos. I expect Castellanos to be the Tigers best fantasy player all season long.
