Detroit Tigers Minor League notes from 5-26.

Toledo lost to the Norfolk Tides 2-3. Box Score

The Norfolk tide squeaked one out against the Mud Hens last night. Notable performances from the Mud Hens include Edwin Espinal went 2-3 with a home run and an RBI. Dawel Lugo meanwhile collected just one hit while going 1-4. Ronny Rodriguez also had one hit while going 1-3.

Christin Stewart made a catch for the ages before tumbling into the stands to start off the eighth inning yesterday. He’s making the right defensive strides that the Tigers want before promoting him to the big leagues. On the mound, Ryan Carpenter pitched 6.0 innings striking out seven batters and giving up six hits.

Erie lost to the Trenton Thunder 1-4. Box Score

The Trenton Thunder got ahead early and the SeaWolves could never quite catch up. Chad Sedio collected two hits while going 2-4 with a walk. Dominic Ficociello and Jake Robson both collected one hit as Ficociello went 1-5 with a double. While Robson went 1-3. On the mound, Kyle Funkhouser pitched 6 innings striking out six and giving up one home run.

Lakeland beat the Dunedin Blue Jays 3-2. Box Score

Lakeland squeaked out a victory against the Dunedin Blue Jays yesterday. Highlights offensively include Daz Cameron collected a pair of hits while going 2-4 with a double. Cam Gibson got himself a hit while going 1-5. On the mound, Gregory Soto collected the victory. Soto went 5.0 innings while striking out four batters and giving up just one hit.

The Whitecaps were beaten up by South Bend losing 11-0. Box Score

The Whitecaps couldn’t score a single run yesterday. Jose Azocar collected a double while going 2-4.  Jordan Pearce and Reynaldo Rivera both went 1-3 while collecting a walk. On the mound, Jose Vasquez went for 3.1 innings while striking out just one batter giving up four hits and five runs.
