Minor League Notes

Spencer Turnbull threw a complete game yesterday for the Erie SeaWolves. Turnbull struck out eleven batters and didn’t get close to scoring until the sixth inning but the Seawolves held them off. Turnbull allowed just four hits on the day.

Over at the Detroit News, Lynn Henning broke down who’s hot and who’s not in the Tigers farm system. Jim Adduci has been hot for the Mudhens. Henning isn’t sure that Jason Krizan will ever get a chance to play in the show. Considering how well he’s done though it’s hard to argue that the Tigers haven’t at least considered it.

In case you missed it the Tigers optioned Zac Reininger to Triple-A Toledo. In 7 games he has a 10.29 ERA in just seven innings of work.

Over at the Athletic, Jim Bowden breaks down trade deadline needs and assets to give away. Michael Fulmer is a realistic option to be traded away. The Tigers are loaded in pitching prospects and are at least going to listen to offers. But, GM Al Avila has noted that it’ll take a King’s ransom for the team to trade Fulmer away.

Per Bowden, the Tigers are going to try and get a deal for Francisco Liriano similar to what the Blue Jays got when they traded him to Houston last season.
