Detroit Tigers Minor League Notes

Over at the Athletic, Emily Waldon has your weekly dose of minor league notes. Including, a hot Dawel Lugo. Jacob Turner is back and Josh Turley retired over the weekend after a horrendous outing with the Mud Hens. The 28-year old has an ERA north of 5 at the AAA level. It looked like his best shot at the big leagues was with his knuckleball, but he retired immediately after the outing.

The Detroit Tigers only have one female member on their current analytics staff. Max Bultman, of the Athletic, has a full profile on Maggie O’Hara, the 23-year old who’s the only woman on the Tigers analytics staff of 14 people.

Louis Coleman was stuck in the minors all last season. Between the Reds and Diamondbacks last season he posted a 2.25 ERA in the minors without an appearance in the majors. He’s now a member of the Tigers and Jordan Horribon, of the Athletic, tries to figure out why he was never called up last season.

Finally, the Detroit News is reporting that prospect Franklin Perez is close to making a return. The Detroit News reports that he should be pitching again within the next three weeks. As the Detroit News notes, Perez is one of several injured prospects who’s timeline to return varies. Grayson Long and Kyle Funkhouser find themselves on that list with several other Tigers prospects.
